Combined Science Trilogy & Triple Sciences
An introduction to the course
Combined Science is a course that will be taught over two years (Y10 and 11). This qualification is linear and will be the equivalent to two GCSE qualifications covering Biology, Chemistry and Physics, which will inspire and challenge students of all abilities and aspirations.
At A & N tutorials we aim to deliver lessons which are engaging, interesting and challenge students to think about the world they live in, with the aim of supporting them to become young scientists.
Students will study content from all three of the Science disciplines; Biology, Chemistry and Physics. During their learning journey they will discover links between KS3 and KS4 science enabling them to aspire to succeed in their GCSE examinations.
Science is taught by a well-qualified specialist teacher with over 15 years’ experience in tutoring as well as teaching fulltime in a main stream school. The science teacher at A & N tutorials has a trach record of helping underachieving pupils makes great improvement. teachers have high expectations and high aspirations for the students they teach.
Science is offering a 5 year fluid curriculum, that is delivered with a 3 year KS3 flowing into a 2 year KS4, where some students may accelerate onto their KS4 pathways as appropriate in their learning journeys.
Student Support
We believe that ‘student participation creates engagement and motivation for learning and has an inherent value beyond benefitting measurable outcomes, where democratic values, engagement and learning for the future are promoted.’ (Bergmark, 2018). Student Voice is at the heart of all we do at A & N tutorials and students are regularly quizzed on what we can do better and finding ways to create meaningful and real changes to their life at the tuition.
